Yo La Tengo Plays Hanukkah Residency

Yo La Tengo
Tired of that Adam Sandler Hanukkah song? So is Yo La Tengo, and the band's going to play all eight nights of the Jewish celebration so its fans don't have to hear Sandler's song.

The band announced it will play an eight-night Hanukkah stand at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, N.J. The eight crazy nights start Dec. 25 and wrap up Jan. 1, in a nice, neat Christmas and New Year’s for the band’s gentile fan base (and Boxing Day, whatever the heck that is, for you British ex-Pats on the East Coast).

“If you've never attended one of our Hanukkah shows before, you'll surely want to blow off your families and rectify that situation,” the band said in a statement. “Each night there will be a band and a comedian and a set by us, and maybe more.

Yo La Tengo will donate all proceeds from the eight shows to charity, though it hasn’t settled upon which one yet.
