 Green Day | You write a rock opera; it becomes a smash hit album. Isn't it logical to make it into a movie? Singer/guitarist Billy Joe Armstrong revealed that he's taking on some of the writing and production roles for an upcoming American Idiot (2004, Reprise) film. The movie, which will revolve around the rock-opera presented on the Berkley pop-punk band's latest album, will, quite unsurprisingly, take its cues from The Who's Tommy and Quadrophenia. Whether that means Elton John will make an appearance as a flamboyant Pinball Wizard or not has yet to be decided. |
Green Day won’t appear in the movie, however. Fans will have to make due with the 14-minute version of the “Jesus of Suburbia” video (read full story), which stars the punks in about 15 percent of a movie.
