Antony & The Johnsons See Sales Rocket!!!

After surprising everyone by walking away with this year's Mercury Music Prize, Antony & The Johnsons have now experienced the unsurprising surge in album sales.

He beat off competition from Kaiser Chiefs, KT Tunstall and Maximo Park and is now reaping the rewards.

Sales of his album 'I Am A Bird Now' have increased phenomenally over the past week - seeing the biggest ever increase for any winning album in the history of the Prize…not bad for a no mark from New York.

According to HMV sales of 'I Am A Bird Now' accounted for over half of all UK album sales last week.

Head Of Music at HMV, Phil Penman said: The Nationwide Mercury Prize just keeps getting better and more influential every year and their effect on sales of short listed albums becomes more pronounced.

"This year has been no exception and we have seen a huge interest in Antony & The Johnsons since they pretty much stole the show with their spellbinding performance at last week's Mercury Prize show."

Antony & The Johnsons will be performing at a handful of dates later this year, see them at:

Wolverhampton, Civic Hall - November 21
November York, Grand Opera House - 23
November Glasgow Academy - 30
London, Shepherds Bush Empire - December 4/5/6
