The Futureheads have revealed that they will be debuting new material at their homecoming show next month, opening the new Carling Academy Newcastle (October 14). The band also explained that they had a hand in the planning of the city's new 2,000 capacity venue. |
Bassist Jaff told NME.COM: "They asked us if we would write a letter to the council to show that bands wanted the venue to be open. Then they got the permission to build it and they asked us to open it with two local bands from Newcastle (Field Music and Kubicheck!)."
Guitarist Ross Millard added: "We'll be playing some new songs at that show for sure. We haven't played our own headline show in the North-East for a long time."
The Futureheads then plan to head into the studio and start work on the follow-up to last year's self-titled debut.
Jaff said: "We just want to get the album done well and out as quickly as possible so we can go out and start touring again!"
