Blur Soldiers on Without Coxon

Blur put doubts about its future to rest, saying it will continue forward and record an new album without departed guitar slinger Graham Coxon.

Blur will continue forward as a three-piece with singer Damon Albarn picking up the guitar in place of Coxon. Because Coxon described his guitar-playing abilities as "basic" he told fans to expect a change in direction from the band. Blur's next album, Albarn said, will feature more primitive and basic punk riffs to accommodate his skill level.

Coxon split the band after Think Tank to pursue a career as a solo artist. His latest solo effort, Happiness in Magazines (read Aversion's review) hit stores earlier this year from Astralwerks.
