Franz Ferdinand Promise Radical Direction

Alex Kapranos
Franz Ferdinand have promised fans a far more radical sound for their third album after enjoying worldwide success with ‘You Could Have It So Much Better…”.

Being interviewed by the Observer at the weekend Alex Kapranos said of their next project: "It's not about getting to the white hot heart of pop. We just want to get to the next place after this one."

Kapranos also admitted that he has a somewhat explosive relationship with guitarist Nick McCarthy but it all helps when they’re writing new material.

He admitted: "We're both quite strong characters. We have a lot in common, but what we don't have in common is drastically different. It's explosive as well as symbiotic. It gives it an edge."

Nick McCarthy revealed in the interview that the band had recently met one of their idols David Bowie and were completely star struck: "I spoke to him and I asked him if he'd ever been to Harlem.”

"He said the first time was 'When I was Ziggy'. I thought, bloody hell, you really are that guy, aren't you?”
