John Vanderslice Kicks Off American Tour

I can't help but wonder if John Vanderslice ever sleeps. ‘Cause it seems like all he ever does is play music. The manic singer/songewriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer released Pixel Revolt on Barsuk records about a month ago, and tonight he and his band (dubbed The Photographs, but apparently the name will change from tour to tour, according to his newsletter) will begin a looong tour playing, like, every single city in the U.S. It's called the "I've Been Living in a K-Hole" tour, and don't we all feel like that every once in awhile?

Vanderslice and The Photographs will brave our country's wild with a slew of other bands, including The Double, Crystal Skulls, and Portastatic. Hey, someone has to fill the musical void down in Normon, Oklahoma while Kenny Chesney is finalizing his divorce. After rockin' America like a hurricane, Vanderslice will head to Europe with drummer/Moog-er Dave Douglas as his accompaniment.

To close out this little Vanderslice blotter, go to his website for various mp3s, photos, and just about everything you could possibly need to accompany Pixel Revolt. He's got lyrics, a recording diary, and lest I forget, a user's guide. Why a user's guide? I don't know. Just go to the website, buy the album, or check out the tour. They're apparently using R. Kelly's TP3: Reloaded as exit music at every show. For real, yo.
