Journey sets more anniversary tour gigs

Journey
Journey 's name grows increasingly fitting as the band keeps adding new dates to its lengthy 30th anniversary tour.

The most recent batch begins in early November in Oklahoma and winds up on Dec. 1 in Minnesota. The band will play three shows in Texas, including a Nov. 5 make-up date in Houston that was originally postponed due to Hurricane Rita. Journey will also perform a two-night stand at New York's historic Beacon Theatre. More dates are expected to be added shortly.

The band's current itinerary is listed below.

Besides celebrating its 30th anniversary, the band will also use the trek to mark the release of its 13th studio album, "Generations," which hit stores Oct. 4. The album, which is the band's first with the Sanctuary Records Group, was produced by Kevin Elson, who also helmed the band's multi-platinum "Escape," "Departure" and "Frontiers" albums. "Generations" is the band's first new recording since its 2002, four-song EP "Red 13." The album's debut single is "A Place in Your Heart."

The Sanctuary-issued version of "Generations" contains two cuts--"The Pride of the Family" and "Never Too Late"--not found on the version of the album that the group had been giving away to fans at most concerts, according to the label.

Journey's current lineup features original members Neal Schon (guitar) and Ross Valory (bass), longtime members Deen Castronovo (drums) and Jon Cain (keyboards), and singer Steve Augieri, who took over for Steve Perry in the late '90s.
