 Mae Shi | 5RC noise-rockers the Mae Shi hit a bit of bad luck recently when thieves broke into their bassist Tim Byron's car and stole a box of their CDs. The box contained 200 copies of Terrorbird and Heartbeeps which they were planning to sell on their upcoming tour. Unfortunately, this means the band owes $1300 to 5RC and has no way to recoup that cost on tour. |
The worst part about is that while the CDs are worth a lot to the Mae Shi and their fans, the street value of 200 discs of noise rock is not exactly astronomical. As Tim puts it on the Mae Shi website, "There is no Pico-Union black market for arty noise. Even Amoeba only sells a few of these a week.
Which means these CDs will probably end up in the bottom of a dumpster." If you live in LA and see a large box of Mae Shi CDs lying about, or know someone who has, feel free to get in touch with the band. You can also support by going to one of the following shows and enjoying some righteous noise.
